Funny sometimes...
how you sort of forget a part of your body that's been ignored until the day after you work it - then it becomes all too clear that you've been neglecting it.
Such was the case of me and my core. As part of the Tour d'Octobre challenge that the Garage Gang is putting on, we have all committed to at least 7 days of consecutive core work. Holy cow - it was hard last night, but tonight I think I was in more pain than I've ever been in my life!! To do another 11 minutes of core work tonight seemed impossible! But I sucked it up, and despite my medial abs and upper abs screaming blue murder at me - I managed to make it through to almost 11 1/2 minutes. The plank went easier - just a couple of quick breaks to round out the minute hold, and the muscles in my hips aren't quite as stiff and sore as they were last night, so maybe it's a good thing that I'm getting back into the groove. It's certainly going to make yoga tomorrow night VERY interesting!!!
Okay...I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record here...eating today: 2161 calories 21%fat, 22% protein and 57% carbs. 8% Saturated (see I changed the order...HA! Bet you weren't expecting that!!), 1% polyunsaturates, and 9% monounsaturates.
The actual food consisted of my usual breakfast - yeah, oatmeal again - Diane told me that she'd get bored of eating the same thing every morning for breakfast - but with me coming from a history of not eating a regular breakfast though, it works - I buy the wild oats, which take a bit longer to cook, but are every bit as yummy, they fill me up, and keep me going until lunch.
Lunch was Vietnamese - I had a bowl of noodles with some beef, chicken, bean sprouts, lettuce and whatever else they put in there in addition to some salad rolls (I kinda miss the spring rolls - but swore to myself no deep fried foods). I was hitting a lot short on the protein and fat by the time dinner rolled around, so made myself some extra lean hamburgers for dinner. I topped them off with some mustard and some relish, and voila!! Dinner.
Man, my abs hurt!!!
Missed the phone call from my brother (who I'm assuming called from Vancouver International) to say goodbye and see you next June - Happy travels, Stephen and Rosemary!!!
Gabriele is in Britain now, visiting Dave, meeting his family, and spending Thanksgiving (do the Brits HAVE Thanksgiving???). She'll be back next week.
Still no sign of a job, but the savings are holding up, and the weekend work will keep me going for a bit yet. Keep your fingers crossed that something comes up soon!!!

Hey Kirsten. Looks like you are holding steady. Instead of hamburger for burgers, you can always use ground chicken or turkey (a lot leaner). I also have a recipe for Salmon burgers that is really good but I don't know if the fat content of Salmon is high or not? Keep Blogging! Diane
